History of the Group
We are one of the newest Groups affiliated to the Institute of Advanced Motorists. We were founded in October 2007 as an offshoot from the Cumberland & Westmorland Group, which is now known as Penrith & North Lakes Advanced Motorists. We cover postcodes LA1 to LA23, which is the North Lancashire and South Lakeland areas from Lancaster to Ingleton to Grasmere and to Barrow in Furness. We currently have 64 Full Members, with a further 7 Associate Members working towards their IAM driving test.
Aims & Objectives
We aim to promote better road safety by helping motorists to:
- Improve their driving skills
- Become a safer and better driver
- Feel more in control of their vehicle
- Help to reduce road accidents
- Make driving a more pleasurable experience
