Observed Drives

Observed drives are carried out, generally, every other Sunday morning. They are pre-booked with the Drive Co-ordinator. All these sessions will meet at Castle Park School, Sedbergh Drive, Kendal LA9 6BJ. The start time will be either 9:30am or 10:30am and associates will be advised on times when arrangements are made. All our observers give up their time voluntarily so it is essential that any pre-booked drives are attended on time.

Sundays may not work for you, and some of our Observers are available to do runs on other days, at mutually convenient times and starting points. We do have Observers living in most parts of the region, so something can usually be worked out.  However, we do ask that new Associates come along to a Sunday session to start with.

Your first drive will be a demonstratration drive by a Senior Observer, in their own car. At the same time the necessary documentation will be sorted out, so you would need to bring your driving licence, valid insurance and MOT certificate (if neccessary) for your car, and all the forms you have received from IAM Headquarters, duly completed. If there is any other relevant information that we may need to know about your driving, for example any medical conditions, please let us have that at this time.
